Duties

The Embassy Kathmandu Local Guard Force has a para-military structure with a strict chain of command. The Roving Supervisor position is more senior than the Supervisor position, but junior to the Shift Supervisor position. Roving Supervisors are expected to follow the directions of those senior to them and to provide guidance and take charge of those members of the Guard Force junior to them. The incumbent serves as a Roving Supervisor and supervises the guard force contingents assigned to various U.S. Government facilities and residences through a mobile patrol. The duties include conducting random patrol of residences including Chief of the Mission Residence, facilities; inspecting duty posts to ensure compliance of guard orders; maintaining vigilance of all sectors and recommending improvements to security procedures; providing training and responding to emergencies involving the mission personnel.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in police or military, or commercial security services, or in the US Embassy Guard Force is required. At least 2 years of supervisory experience is also required

Education Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Secondary School education is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to work independently and supervise approximately 100 guards is required. The ability to demonstrate good leadership; the ability to work for prolonged periods of time outdoors; the ability to draft clear reports in English; and the ability to accurately translate instructions from English to Nepali are also required. A valid Nepali driver’s Class “B” license (Car, Jeep, Delivery Van) is required.

KNOWLEDGE: The knowledge of local security practices is required. A working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point is also required.

Qualifications:

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period of one year for LE Staff.
