Kakani Center for Development of Community – KCDC is a Community Based, relief, development and advocacy, Non-Governmental Organization, non-profit, non-political and Voluntary Service Organization (VSO) and it was created in 1993. Their entire staffs is mobilized daily to cover the basic needs of poor vulnerable children, women, marginalized or excluded by  the effects of natural disasters, wars and situations of economic collapse, poverty and injustice. KCDC is based in Bidur Chowk, operates in the areas of child development, women’s empowerment, food security, health, nutrition, rehabilitation of infrastructure, shelter, water and sanitation (WASH) and economic recovery, education, elimination of child labor, safe migration, stop human trafficking, Fighting against CSEC and Recovery of Livelihood. With strong complementary technical expertise in the humanitarian field, international partner and KCDC and their common goal to provide a comprehensive response to emergency, health and nutrition, WASH, livelihood, awareness, school buildings construction, library erection, agro-forestry, child and women’s empowerment, capacity building in Poor and Vulnerable Community in Nuwakot District by implementing different Program activities.

KCDC in partnership with Oxfam is implementing the Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project in different VDCs of Nuwakot. KCDC is seeking to fill the following positions inviting applications from interested and highly motivated candidates.

Position: PHP Officer

Required No. 1

Duration & Location: Fixed term till March 2018 base in field in Nuwakot

Brief Description

  • Developing policies and strategies for promoting health at local, regional or district level.
  • Planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects to promote health improvement; Facilitating and supporting a wide range of statutory, D-WASH-CC, V-WASH-CC, VCs, WSSDO, voluntary, charitable and commercial organisations in their delivery of health promotion activities;
  • Developing the health awareness of individuals, groups and organisations and empowering them to make healthy choices;
  • Leading, supporting, or cooperating in multi-agency projects to promote a healthy context or social environment and ODF; Running training courses and workshops in areas such as mental health, accident prevention, cancers and heart disease;
  • Developing and supporting local partnerships to broaden the local response to health inequalities; Identifying training needs arising from strategic and local agendas and developing and delivering appropriate training for people such as health professionals and volunteers;
  • Providing specialist advice and resources to other agencies, such as schools and local communities;
  • Ensuring that work is underpinned by sound, up-to-date knowledge of health promotion theory and making sure that projects are based on evidence of effectiveness;
  • Lobbying for increased recognition of preventative and promotional measures that can take place at a population level and which have a positive impact on the health of a community;
  • Writing and producing leaflets, posters, videos and brochures to aid health promotion in different area.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, biological, psychological or social science, health promotion, health studies, nursing public, environmental, health education with 2 years of experience in logistic Management.
  • Computer literate in Office package (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power point)
  • Good written and spoken English is essential.
  •  Previous working experience with non-governmental organizations.
  • Experience in emergency and early recovery program. Mature and professional attitude and approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations with multicultural and multi ethnic teams, including working with partner organizations.
