Sahayata Samajik Sanstha (SSS), a non – governmental organization registered under the district administration office Nuwakot, and affiliated to Social Welfare Council (SWC), Nepal has been working in various sectors of Nuwakot and Rasuwa District since 2005.

Sahayata Samajik Sanstha (SSS) was established with a vision of perfect society in which poor and under privileged group people fulfill their basic needs and live in dignity. With that vision we have been working in various developmental and informational sectors, namely in livelihood, shelter, water supply, sanitation and hygiene, women’s trafficking, and HIV and aids. SSS in partnership with Oxfam is implementing the Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project in different VDCs of Nuwakot.

SSS is seeking to fill the following positions inviting applications from interested and highly motivated candidates.

Post holder reports to: Project Coordinator

Staff reporting to this post: PHEAssistant


  • To carry out the selection, design and construction of water systems, using ground water or surface water, including abstraction, storage, treatment and distribution for new systems or rehabilitation of existing systems.
  • To select, design and implement the most appropriate form of sanitation system, in consultation with the beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control and drainage.
  • Conducting training sessions to WUCs
  • To liase closely with the Public Health Promotion Team throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the Public Health Engineering Programme. Hygiene promotion is a vital element of such public health engineering programmes
  • The work will include management and administrative duties and co-ordination with other members of the project and with staff of other organisations
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative data to track progress on monthly basis and assist in development of snap shots of the program.
  • Report the progress of the program verbally and in writing to PC and Technical Lead.
  • To ensure that all programmes take gender issues fully into account. This includes the introduction of mechanisms to enable women to participate in decision making around public health engineering issues.
  • To effectively communicate and co-ordinate with external stakeholders;
  • V-WASH-CC meetings and meet regularly with the WSSDO to update them on our activities & plans.
  • Communities – support the team in meetings with VDC/ LDRMP (local level disaster risk management plan)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with minimum 2 years relevant experience.
  • Practical experience in appropriate water supplies, sanitation and hygiene promotion.
  • The post holder should have a good understanding of the public health needs of poor rural and urban communities and of appropriate ways of tackling them. The post holder must be aware of and sensitive to the particular needs of women in this context.
  • The ability to present concise reports, sometimes at short notice, reflecting the problems and possible solutions for particular situations.
  • Well developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
  • Good written and spoken English is essential.
