Job Description

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is a leading Swiss NGO which has been active in the domains of child protection and health in Nepal since 1985. Tdh is seeking a qualified and experienced Nepali citizen to join its Kathmandu based Nepal delegation.

Job title : Deputy Country Representative (Programmes)

Line Manager : Country Representative

Location : Kathmandu, with frequent travel to project sites across Nepal (minimum of 3 months per year)

Duration : One year renewable contract (performance based)

Main Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall operations coordination of Tdh Nepal’s projects across Nepal in coordination with the Country Representative, respective project coordinators, partners and support departments.

• Is a Tdh focal point in the wider Nepalese community and represents the organization professionally • Promotes and ensures the principles of child protection and child participation are respected within the Tdh projects, partners and with identified child protection resources

• Informs his/her direct supervisor about any difficulty met in Tdh activities implementation

• Is prepared to travel throughout Nepal to ensure the operational management of Tdh Nepal’s projects

• Acts as Country Representative when requested

• Assists the Country Representative to host donor visits and maintain regular liaison with the same,

• Assists the Country Representative with project development and reporting and identifying local funding


• Master’s Degree in social work, child protection, or other development related subjects

• Oral and written English proficiency is a must

• Minimum five years’ experience In development contexts with minimum two years working in a comparable senior management position.

• Capacities in training and development, capacity building, HR management. team coordination, conceptual project development, and strategy formulation area must

• Thematic experience in child protection projects (e.g. case management, child protection systems, community-led and peer to peer approaches, advocacy) are highly appreciated. Experience in WASH and/or Health are an added value.
