Job Description

QIMR Berghofer is a world leading medical research institute dedicated to improving health by developing prevention strategies, new diagnostics and better treatments in cancer; infectious diseases; mental health and a range of complex disorders.  This role sits within the Business Development Unit. It is a small innovative team of professionals with complementary skills and experience. The team is responsible for all commercial engagements through QIMR Berghofer, including contract research, licensing, strategic partnerships and spin-out companies.

The Business Development & Alliance Manager will maintain key relationships within pharmaceutical companies leading to effective collaborations; negotiate and execute licenses, partnerships and collaboration agreements; ensure effective management collaborations through structured alliance management; support business development activities between strategic research laboratories working in immune-oncology; work closely with researchers in identifying inventions and their developing them into commercialised strategies and plans; proactively lead preparation business planning and investment activities; and prepare and communicate quality commercialisation plans to internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of 3 years in a commercial or industry environment in a business management/executive  role; excellent project management and communication skills; demonstrated ability to negotiate and execute collaboration and license agreements on medical technology; experience in establishing commercial engagement strategies and budgets to maximise financial return, experience reviewing medical research projects; demonstrated experience with the commercialisation of intellectual property, valuation and negotiation, and the development of project proposals, funding and partnering.

Salary:This is a full-time position for two years, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position.
