The Gurkha Welfare Scheme (GWS) invites application from suitably qualified applicants for the post of Clinical Trainer/Duality Auditor to work in its various Area Welfare Centres (AWCs) across Nepal but based in Pokhara.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Candidates may be qualified as Health Assistants or Bachelor degree in Nursing or any other appropriate Healthcare Professionals registered with relevant Nepal licensing body, have good commands of both spoken and written English, must be computer literate, fit enough to undertake responsibilities of the job: i.e. visiting centres and patients in hilly remote areas, and a Nepali citizen minimum of five years of work experience after the license.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Proven experience in working in a clinical mentoringleaching role is essential, Working in quality assurance role is also desirable. You will need to be able to teach and facilitate learning of CMAs and HAs and at the same time encourage them to deliver high quality healthcare to defined standards of clinical practice. In particular you will ensure correct use of medical equipment, cleanliness and infection control, good record management etc. Experience of clinic management and treatment of chronic diseases such as Diabetes. COPD. hypertension and elderly care will be extremely relevant for us, However the most important aspect is teaching skills. JOB

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will be responsible to visit the 21 Area Welfare Centres for a few days at a time around Nepal on a regular basis. You will most likely be “on the road* upto 50% of the time. You will be responsible to undertake formal documented assessments of how the clinical care is delivered and fix wherever possible any deficiencies by being able to educate the health providers at that time, or to identify and resource more complicated learning needs,

Competitive Salary with Provident Fund One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWS Staff Regulations. The job is offered for 2 years initially and may be extended to one year The interview will be conducted in English.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

The successful applicant must be qualified and licensed as a pharmacist in Nepal and should have obtained at least a Bachelor degree in pharmacy, preferably a Masters.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Should have extensive experience of managing a large hospital or commercial pharmacy, especially with experience of quality assurance and proven abilities to audit suppliers. Be able to identify and implement the best practices and methods of storage and distribution of medicines. Experience of interacting with clinicians on a regular basis to maintain evidence based decisions on the correct use of medications and producing relevant formularies. Must be familiar with Nepal DDA policies, and the registration list of recognised suppliers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

The successful applicant will be responsible to comprehensively oversee the procurement and management of a primary care formulary and ensure medication supply to the 21 centres around Nepal that me GWS run. This will include: Auditing and identification of high quality suppliers Managing and improving the distribution of medications especially as regards safety and environment control. Managing the formulary alongside the clinicians Managing the stock control and re ordering of medications to maximise efficiency. Monitoring the management and use of the medications in all the centres and helping to develop best practices for GWS in terms of dispensing and pharmacy practice.

The Gurkha Welfare Scheme (GWS) invites application from suitably qualified applicants for the post of various senior Doctor Positions to work in providing and managing the medical services delivered in our Area Welfare Centres (AWCs) across Nepal. We have opportunities for three different roles within the organisation as outlined below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have qualified as a Medical Doctor (MBBS)
  • Must be registered with Nepal Medical Council (NMC)
  • Additional Post Graduate qualifications are desirable(MD in GP or Internal Medicine)
  • Must have good commands of both spoken and written English
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be Nepali citizen

REQUIRE BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum of five years of work experience with Govt/ Private hospitals/ Health Posts/centers.
  • Experience in working in remote areas with Government/ international organizations preferable
  • Experience in coaching, teaching, tormenting and managing of clinical staff is highly desirable
  • Experience in working/consulting elderly patients and chronic diseases desirable

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES of the Three Roles 1)

HQ Dr (One Position for PokharA): Your role will be in the HO, helping the Clinical Governance Team, coordinating medical aspects of medication purchase, assessing and working with hospital providers, medical camps and claims reimbursements. As well as management, training and governance duties, you will also have the opportunity to maintain clinical skills with regular face to face consulting as well. The position is based full time in Pokhara but will require some need to travel around Nepal from time to time. You will be expected to support our health professionals working around the country with phone consultations to give advice and guidance.

2)Regionaf Drs: (Upto Three Positions): Your role will be based in one of the cities Kathmandu, Pokhara. Dharan etc. Your role will be to be the clinical manager for the Senior GPs, HAs and CMAs working in that region usually spread over 4 or 5 locations in that area. You will be expected to travel regularly for may be a week at a time to those locations once a quarter and deliver face to face consults with pensioners unable to travel easily to the city and also to train and monitor the clinical teams located in the welfare centres You w.11 be expected to support the teams in your region by frequent phone call consultations and advice. You will have the opportunity to maintain clinical skills with regular face to face consulting in the city welfare centre

3) Senior GPs: (Two Positions for Kathmandu & Pokhara) Your role will be to deliver regular primary care consultations to the pensioners living in these cities. Seeing around 30 to 35 patients a day. five days a week and leading and teaching the clinic team working alongside you The clinical challenges will be mainly concerning the older population of retired ex-servicemen. focusing mainly on chronic non communicable diseases. You will work mainly in the city welfare centre but from time to time shall visit patients in their homes as necessary.
